Friday Night Auction Action...Stewart & Ken's

Friday night we went to two auctions...we started off in Avoca at Stewart's Auction on Hwy 62.  This was our first visit to Stewart's Auction.  We arrived at 5PM to preview and the auction started at 6PM.  Jeromy Stewart was the auctioneer and kept a quick pace going which is always much appreciated.  The auction house was clean, served good refreshments and offered a comfortable seating area with no bad seat in the house.  Now for the fun part....the treasures we found:
We picked up two awesome old school house desks.  One was a basic square shape in a distressed greenish blue color and the other was a cream color with decorative legs. I found a similar one to the greenish one selling on Polyvore for $125.00.  http://www.polyvore.com/olde_good_things_small_vintage/thing?id=18923875  We picked up both desks for $12.50 each. We are so excited about these desks! A friend and definitely one of our favorite local furniture restoration experts will be working her magic on these, we can't wait to show you the finished product! (And even where you can pick them up yourself!)

We also got a nice wooden 5-drawer chest of drawers for $60.00.  It was a little more than I wanted to pay but all the older real wooden furniture was going pretty high.  It ended up being a great bargain, compared to some of the other chest of drawers that sold for over $100.  The piece was in really good shape and will be a breeze to repaint.
The last item we got was a maple step end table with a small drawer.  I'm always drawn to the step end tables, probably because my grandmother has always had these in her house.  We paid $20.00 for the table.  I found a similar one on Krrb.com for $100. http://krrb.com/posts/14614-mersman-vintage-step-end-table-with-drawer

We left there around 9PM and headed to Springdale to Ken's Auction.  Ken is located on Spring Street in downtown Springdale.  Ken's is one of our favorite auctions but only stuck around for about 15 minutes.  He always has a nice selection of antiques, furniture, art, jewelry and misc. house hold items.  We didn't purchase anything at Ken's because my son (and most patient auction sidekick), Tyler was spent.  We'll be sure to catch his auction next week.  Ken's next auction is next Friday night and I'm sure he'll have some great items.
Check our "Auctions & Events" tab for up to date auctions announcements for the Northwest Arkansas area. Hopefully we'll see you there!

Also, we are getting our facebook up and going! Please come check us out and tell your friends about us!

Thanks for reading!
